Places of interest:

Biliran lies just off the north coast of Leyte. Between both islands runs the Biliran Strait, only a few km wide. At its narrowest part in the south, a bridge connects Biliran with Leyte.

In 1992 Biliran succeeded in becoming a separate political entity from its neighbor and has been an autonomous province since that date.

Indeed, if you visit Biliran and pass your eye over its God-given resources, there is no conclusion to arrive at but that the province has been richly blessed in terms of natural resources. A great many attractions await visitors to Biliran.

White-sand beaches like wise exist apart from Higatangan and Maripipi. The feeling one gets is like being in Boracay, except that here, one can have the entire beach to one's self since Biliran has not yet really been discovered by tourist.

The province is known for its sweetest and clearest mineral water in the world.

SAMBAWAN ISLAND: These two elongated, rocky islands lie close together to the west of Maripipi. The northern one turns into three even smaller islands at high tide. You can see the dazzlingly white coral beach from quite a distance away. There are no palms and therefore no shade on the islands, so if you're going there for the day don't forget to take along means of protecting yourself from the sun.

HIGATANGAN ISLAND: Apparently, the former president Marcos temporarily took refuge during WWII on this little island off the north-west tip of Leyte. That's why the highest point on the island (46m) is still called Marcos Hill to this day. Approaching Higatangan Island from Naval, the first thing you notice is a roughly 200m long. blindingly white sand band, stretching out like a gigantic tongue from the little town of Mabini. Along the south coast you'll come across attractive little white stretches of sand tucked in between decorative, angular cliff faces.

TINAGO WATERFALLS: the newly discovered and most popular falls in the island of Biliran Province, located in Cabibihan Caibiran.

DALUTAN ISLAND: white sand beach and magnificent coral reefs can be found in Dalutan Island.

MAINIT HOT SPRING: In Caibiran, visitors should not miss the Mainit Hot Spring where one can take a soothing dip to relieve tired, aching muscles.
