Quezon City, Philippines – Family, relatives and friends attended the requiem mass for the late Gerardo “Gerry” Espina, Sr. at the Arlington Chapel at 7:30 a.m. this morning. The mass was followed by a slow-moving convoy along Balete Drive in Quezon City, where the Espina residence is situated, ontowards the House of Representives, Batasan Complex.

Several employees of Congress witnessed as former Senator and incumbent Muntinlupa Representative Rodolfo Biazon gave the honors and handed over to the Espina family a copy of House Resolution No. 326, expressing the profound condolence of the House of Representatives to the bereaved family.gerryespinasrfuneral-1

The late Gerry Espina, Sr. was a former Representative of the lone district of Biliran during the 10th, 11th and 12th Congress. However, his remains were not brought to the House of Reprentatives during his wake as the session of the 15th Congress adjourned last Wednesday, February 6, 2013.

After an almost two-hour procession, a 21-gun salute was accorded to Gerry when the funeral cortege arrived at the Loyola Memorial Park. The remains of Gerry Espina, Sr. was finally laid to rest at the Loyola Memorial Park in Sukat, Paranaque at around11:30 a.m. Gerry’s widow and children bade goodbye to him as his coffin was slowly pushed into the tomb.
