LEYTE – A 4.4-magnitude earthquake struck off Leyte early Wednesday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

The tectonic tremor struck at 1:16 a.m. approximately 7 kilometers west of Capoocan town with a depth of 5 km.

Here are the reported intensities:

Intensity IV – Capoocan, Leyte
Intensity III – Cabucgayan, Biliran

Instrumental Intensity:
Intensity II – Ormoc City
Intensity I – Palo, Leyte; Borongan, Eastern Samar; Cebu City

Phivolcs said damage to structure and aftershocks are not expected.
