TESDA-Biliran now accepting applicants for competency exam
TUESDAY, AUGUST 23, 2005 | LABOR AND WELFARE

Naval, Biliran (23 August) -- The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in Biliran Province wishes to announce most especially to all Biliranons that they are now accepting applications for those who would like to take the Data Encoder Information Technology (IT) User Competency-based examination.

This was learned from Laoreto Banario, TESDA-Biliran Provincial Director who said that the competency-based examination aims to ensure the quality of our workers in terms of their skills and competencies to do a specific job.

Occupations covered by the TESDA-CSC-SCEP (Skills Certification Equivalent Program) include data encoding, domestic refrigeration and AC Mechanic, Automotive Mechanic (light duty), general carpentry, building wiring electrician, general masonry, plumbing/pipe fitting and electric welding.

She added that passers of said examination can convert their test results to a civil service eligibility for the first level position.

The holding of the competency-based examination is a joint project of TESDA and the Civil Service Commission (CSC).

The examination fee is still P250 per examinee because TESDA has not yet implemented the new rate of examination fee.

Examinees in the province of Biliran who will not make it to the list of successful examinees may enroll at the Cabucgayan National School of Arts and Trades (CNSAT) to enhance their trade skills and Provincial Computer Learning Center at the Provincial capitol compound in Brgy. Calumpang in Naval and the Overlink Computer Training Center also in Naval, Biliran for the enhancement of their computer skills.

The conduct of the competency-based examination is in line with the program of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to provide 6 to 10 million jobs to the jobless Filipinos by the year 2010.

For more information about the competency-based examination, interested applicants are advised to visit the TESDA Office located at the Naval School of Fisheries (NSF) Compound in Brgy. Caraycaray, Naval, Biliran or call telephone no. 500-9446. (PIA Biliran)

Industrial and manufacturing plants demands applicants to be TESDA graduate or has a certificate of attendance in TESDA. This is a very good opportunity.:)
