Asphalt overlay project of major roads in Naval to start soon

Naval, Biliran (24 August) — The asphalting of major roads in poblacion Naval in Biliran province will be started soon. This was revealed by Congressman Gerry Boy Espina of the lone district of Biliran in a telephone interview recently saying that the project is part of the infrastructure program he planned for the province of Biliran.

Some P22 million is allocated for the project, Congressman Espina said, the release of which will come on a staggered basis.

First phase of the project is the application of the asphalt overlay from the port area of Naval going to the provincial capitol while the second phase is the asphalting of the road going to Brgy. Caraycaray and beyond.

Congressman Espina added that he was able to source out the fund through Congressman Mikey Arroyo of the first district of Pampanga, a presidential son and his best friend in Congress.

The project is in line with the 10-point agenda of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. Congressman Espina said, the project is one of the major factors that would bring the lone district of Biliran to development and the improvement of the lives of every Biliranon as well.

Earlier, the young congressman distributed some 90 computers to the different elementary and high schools in the eight municipalities of Biliran province through his elder brother, Governor Rogelio J. Espina under the “Tulong sa Edukasyon” program of the provincial government.

Cong. Espina hopes to distribute computers to all schools in Biliran province saying that those schools who did not receive computer units yet will be given their share during the second release of the equipment.

The distribution of the computers has greatly helped students in the province enhance their learning opportunities as they have now access to this kind of equipment especially in their research work. (PIA-Biliran)
