A FORMER vice governor of Biliran province in Eastern Visayas is in critical condition after he was shot by his bodyguard on board a Cebu City-bound ferry on Thursday, an official said.
Chief Superintendent Silverio Alarcio, Region 7 police director, said Danny Padilla was shot by his bodyguard Eugenio Cortin while they were on board the Cagayan Princess.
Authorities arrested Cortin while Padilla was brought to the Chung Hua hospital in Cebu City, said Alarcio.
Initial investigation showed that Padilla and Cortin had an argument during a drinking bout on Saturday, he said.
“Sinuntok daw ni ex-gov si Cortin, kaya ginantihan siya,” Alarcio told INQ7.net in a phone interview.
Revenge was seen as the suspect’s probable motive, said Alarcio.

Message to naval Mayor,
Just heard your comment regarding X governors death. Its to obvious that your are washing up you hands. Can’t you just at least respect that the Parilla family are mourning? What ever he does when he was still alive we human being have no right to slain anyone. We have to remember somehow will face the judgment day. Leave it to the hands of God. Because authority now is full of corruption. What ever we have not we cannot take it to the last minute of our life. We will always leave it behind. Please think for a moment and reflect.
