Tacloban City (December 26) – In behalf of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, Secretary Sergio Apostol will be present during the Pamaskong Handog ng Pangulo in the provinces of Biliran and Samar.
The Secretary will attend the Pamaskong Handog ng Pangulo Caravan which will reach Biliran, Biliran at 9:00 o’clock in the morning of December 28. In Biliran town, all the recipients from the six municipalities of Biliran will converge.
From Biliran town, Secretary Apostol will proceed by helicopter to the municipality of Sta. Rita where another set of Pamaskong Handog Caravan are waiting. It is here where the beneficiaries from the ten municipalities of Samar will converged.
The coordinating government agencies have been informed on the schedule which is in the morning for both of the venues, as requested by Secretary Apostol through the NAPCI which is actually the lead agency for the Project.
More than 30,000 families in the two provinces of Region 8 will are scheduled to receive with joy President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s gift packs on December 28.
Aside from that, coordinating agencies like TESDA, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Nutrition Council of the Philippines, Department of Health and Department of Agriculture, are expected to provide their services to the beneficiary families.
The Pamaskong Handog ng Pangulo is being conducted in the different regions of the country in order to give the people enjoy the spirit of the Season.
This is also an undertaking in line with President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s wish to make the less privileged Filipinos feel the fruits of the country’s economic progress. (PIA 8)
