Tacloban City- As part of the continuing effort of the national government, the peoples needs is one of the main reason why the present administration is dedicated to help improve the economic status and uplift their financial condition by inculcating themselves the importance of technical education in their day to day leaving. National government agencies are reaching out to provinces to offer and avail of the social services and likewise see themselves that taxes they paid are converted into social services.
The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation- Peoples Government Mobile Action Department (PAGCOR-PGMAD) will be holding a Peoples Government Mobile Action (PGMA) caravan in the Province of Biliran on February 26 to 29, 2008.
According to Remedios “Matin” Petilla, Vice-President of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), during the coordination meeting held this day at SMED center, this city, that the PGMA Caravan is a pooling of resources among the different line agencies of the national government who has a direct importance in the delivery of basic social services.
This PGMA Caravan will be holding a surgical, medical and dental mission at the capitol grounds in Naval Biliran for the duration of three days, she said.
Vice-President Petilla informed that other doctors, nurses and dentists will conduct the medical and dental mission in Kawayan, Biliran on February 27, 2008. The following day, February 28, 2008 the pool of doctors, nurses and dentists will conduct medical and dental mission in Caibiran, Biliran.
Aside form surgical, medical and dental mission, national government will highlight their basic social services among the provinces of Biliran and nearby municipalities. Technical Education and Skills Development (TESDA) will conduct a livelihood training programs on motorcycle repair, cooking or baking, haircut or hairstyling and massage, free assessment for Call Center Agents and free assessment for PC Operations NC II. The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Department of Tourism (DOT) will conduct online jobs fair. The National Statistics Office (NSO), Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Social Security System (SSS) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) will conduct assistance on how to avail of their services.
On their part, the Department of Health (DOH) will be distributing drugs and medicines and conduct accreditation of Botika ng Bayan and other services pertaining to reproductive health, while the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) will be distributing planting materials. Other agencies of the national government will be augmented in the PGMA caravan to introduce among the residents in the province of Biliran and other nearby municipalities of the social services they can offer.
Vice-President Petilla, further elaborated that Biliran province is among the ten poorest province in the entire Philippines, which need assistance in terms of health, agriculture, nutrition and other basic and social services.
The President issued Administrative Order No. 159, directing all government agencies who have a direct involvement to actively participate in the project at the priority provinces in the country by providing technical, logistics and funding support to the various programs of the PGMA caravan.
