The much abused proliferation of patronage politics has again reared its ugly head in Biliran, and nothing was done about it.
I am angry that Biliranons again, tolerated the photo of Gov Rogelio Espina plastered on those ambulances. It does not make a difference if there was permission granted, if any, to use the ambulance as a personal advertisement for Gov Espina.
The truth of the matter is that the ambulance is intended to help the Biliranons not to promote the popularity of Gov Espina. Gov Espina did not use his own money to pay for these vehicles.
Decent and concerned Biliranons should make representations to remove the name of former Congressman & Mayor Gerryboy Espina on those fire trucks; and Gov Rogelio Espina on these ambulances, the latest of which is the ambulance turned over to Cabucgayan.
Public vehicles should not bear any photos or names of any serving elective public officials. This should also apply to billboards displayed on on-going and completed projects, tourist destinations and public buildings.
The photos plastered on these public vehicles are prime example of abuse of power, promotion of patronage politics and self promotion.
Biliranons, when do we learn?
