Congressman Glenn C. Chong of the lone district of Biliran expressed elation over the geothermal exploration to be done soon in the province of Biliran.
It shall be the largest investment in their history. The identified sites —in Pulang yuta which is located in between and among the barangays of Cabibihan and Villa Vicenta in Caibiran town and in Barangay Libtong in Naval were earlier explored in the 1980’s but due to high sulfur presence it was not pursued, Chong said.
However “there is already a new technology that would negate the sulfur problem that’s why the project looks very promising”, the youthful solon further said.
Chong hopes that the exploration of the possible large geothermal deposits in Biliran would be realized as he sees this as a way to trigger investments in this small province of seven municipalities that may provide business opportunities and jobs to its citizens and for sustained economic development.
Chong further revealed that he held talks with representatives of the Company tasked to conduct this geothermal exploration and development prior to the scheduled exploration. He expects updates from the company of developments relative to the project.
The young legislator also revealed that from Day 1 up to the present as Representative of the lone district Biliran he focused on education and infrastructure thrusts for development of his district.
