Chong said that among these development efforts, which he prioritizes at present include the infrastructure development and the geothermal project to generate electricity for the province.

He said that road construction and concreting for the municipalities, which do have yet the concrete roads is another concern he is focusing.

He explained that with the first class concrete roads transportation will greatly improve and one of the factors that investors consider in establishing business in a particular area.

He added that with the steady supply of electricity from the geothermal fields from this capital town of this province and from the town of Caibiran will further encourage the investors to invest in his province. (Restituto A. Cayubit)

Please take note of the above post of what the Provincial Government in Bohol is undertaking. There is a real need for a masterplan drawn with the macro view of aligning all development projects through a comprehensive approach. It will be worth spending the money.

Maybe, you can consider this in your planning activities.

Bohol governor says master plan will focus on eco-tourism activities

    By JUNE S. BLANCO

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol — An international master planner is expected to be commissioned by the provincial government of Bohol and the municipal governments of Panglao and Dauis to do the master plan for Panglao Island early next year.

Bohol Gov. Erico Aumentado started the negotiation on the “master planning” job last week with Architect Felino Palafox Jr. of the Palafox Associates.

Rep. Edgar Chatto (1st district, Bohol) and Mayor Benedicto Alcala of Panglao assisted Governor Aumentado in the initial negotiation expected to be wrapped up before the end of this year.

The master planning will cover all facets of urban planning with emphasis on eco-tourism and the possibility of putting up an aeropolis in Panglao Island.

The terms of the commissioning are still being worked out. However, due to the Panglao water requirements, Palafox agreed to prioritize the planning for the Panglao Waterworks and Drainage System.

He also committed to bring in his international and domestic clients to invest in Panglao and other areas of Bohol.

Palafox is known also to be a very strong environment advocate for which he did the master planning for the La Mesa Dam Eco-Park in Quezon City.

He is known for his advocacy on environmental goals, economic gains and social equity.

Among the major international projects of Palafox Associates are the Dubai Mixed-use Development in the United Arab Emirates, Huang Shan Gateway in China, Jabal Khandama Master Plan of Makkah in Saudi Arabia, Pinnacles Development in Monterey, California, Sharm City of Stars in Egypt, Saigon Golf and Country Club in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, and the Hollywood Cinemas in Joplin and Killeen in Texas and Woodland in Oklahoma, both in the United States of America.

Palafox Associates has been certified by TUV of Germany for its integrated Quality and Environmental Management Systems (QEMS) based on ISO 9001 (Quality Management) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) standards.

It is the first in the Architecture, Planning, Interior Design, Landscape Architecture and Engineering professions and reportedly the first planning and design company in the Philippines to have implemented and successfully passed certification audits for integrated QEMS.

It is also the only planning and design firm in the Philippines that has made it to the London-based World Architecture Magazine’s Top 500, Top 300 and Top 200 Architectural Firms in the World for the past eight years.

The annual worldwide survey is internationally recognized as the most comprehensive survey of its kind.

In 2006, Palafox Associates ranked 94th, breaking into the Top 100 and was the only Southeast Asian firm cited in the world’s largest practices.
