TACLOBAN CITY – Senior Supt. Leonardo Cesneros, chief of the police regional office-8 human resource and personnel division, is set to leave his post to assume the highest position of the PNP in Biliran in a simple turnover of command on Jan. 9.
Cesneros, one of the youngest senior police officer in the region and a graduate of the Philippine National Police Academy class 1985, will replace Sr. Supt. Arcadio Lelis who will be in his compulsory retirement this month. Lelis has been holding the position of Deputy Regional Director for Operations (DRDO) in concurrent capacity.
He said that since this is his first assignment holding a PNP provincial post in a province, he assured Biliranons to give his best in his assignment as police officer.
“I am assuring the politicians in Biliran of my best public service and of course with their support, trabaho lang ang sa atin for the good of the public,” Cesneros said.
With the scheduled relief of Cesneros, some of PRO-8s key positions will have a corresponding movement like the case of Sr. Supt. Gil Hitosis, the present chief directorial staff who will take the post of Lelis as DRDO. Another senior police office is also set to take the post vacated by Hitosis.
As earlier confirmed by PNP Regional Director Chief Supt. Abner Cabalquinto, a senior police officer will take the post as city police chief now that Tacloban has become a highly urbanized city, and police chief Taboso, who is still holding the rank of superintendent, will be replaced.
Hitosis said that they are still waiting an official communication from the Commission on Elections informing them that Tacloban is now an HUC.
He added that Sr. Supts. Felipe Pacada, Manuel Cubillo and Pio Manito are possible choice for the position as district director in the city.
