Tacloban City (January 27) – In line with President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s intensified campaign versus illegal drugs, a suspected lady drug pusher was nabbed in a buy-bust operation conducted at 2:00 o’clock in the morning of January 27 in Naval, Biliran.
Biliran Provincial PNP Director Leonardo Cesneros informed that the buy-bust operation was conducted by a 7-man team of the Provincial Anti Illegal Drug Special Task Force led by Police Inspector Marianito Malibago.
Provincial Director Cesneros who was installed to his new post in Biliran only on January 9, informed that the buy-bust operation came after days of surveillance on two suspects.
At about 2:00 o’clock in the morning, at corner Redaja and Caneja St., in Naval, a policeman who posed as a shabu buyer approached a certain Alje Rey Bontis alyas Tata, to buy a big amount of shabu. Alyas Tata then said that the dealer herself was around.
The lady suspect from Cebu, Lorna Cabanes Cajes, who was with her 4-year old child, brought out one big sachet and one small sachet of shabu which the police bought for P20,000.00.
The members of the Team then nabbed the two. However while being brought to the Naval Police Station, the male suspect was able to escape and locked himself in his house.
Without the police knowing, the suspect was able to escape through a secret door in the fence of his house.
The lady suspect will be brought right away to the PDEA Regional Office in Tacloban, Director Cesneros said.

Director Cesneros said that the situation of illegal drugs in the province of Biliran is not alarming, but if nothing is done about it, there will come a time that it will reach the alarming stage.
He said that he will not stop from running after people who are victimizing the youth by selling them illegal drugs.
When reached, PDEA Director Gil Pabilona said he is waiting for the suspect who will undergo drug testing at the PDEA clinic. Then the same will be brought back to Naval for prosecution and detention. (PIA 8)

I congratulate the officers and men who made the arrest. I just wish that the prosecutors wouldn’t dismiss the case just because of lack or insufficient evidence. I hope the PNP wouldn’t loss steam in pursuing the case against this drug trafficker. As we all know, drug-related would not prosper in court because it is either the prosecutors were not competent enough or the PNP wouldn’t pursue the case.

Director Cesneros, one time request lang po, kung totoong sincere kayo sa campaign against drugs, ipakita nyo po sa mga taga Biliran na this case will lead to the conviction of this pusher. Wag po sana kayong tumulad sa mga politikong puro empty promises lang. Ipakita nyo po na may honor, courage and integrity kayo.

some policemen used pushers and users as their assets in going after several pushers..in that way they will be misinterpreted by the public by protecting these users/pushers..U cannot use a fish vendor, an atorney, an engr etc in gathering information about these drug menaces..how can the police get through them if they have no one who could penatrate or serve as deep penatrating agents..these assets are a big help to the police in terms of gathering information for a succesfull raid or buy bust operation..by the way,job well done by the provincial director especially to the policemen here in naval..

The lady in the picture is my mother. She’s not pusher. She doesn’t know that she was framed up. And this Tata is the true suspect. Believe me or not, there was no buy-bust incident happen. It was just set-up for frame-up… That’s it!
