Naval, Biliran — A lady boarder sustained physical injuries after an unidentified burglar gained entrance through an unlocked terrace door in one of the rooms of the Gonzales apartment early morning today.
The victim was identified as Marilou Lauzon Calupas, 20 years old, single, a resident of Mayorga, Leyte and a third year Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management (HTRM) student of the Naval Institute of Technology (NIT).
The Gonzales apartment is located a few meters away from NIT and is owned by Atty. Jose Gonzales.
The victim sustained several wounds and bruises on her head and a cut on her right cheek. She is now confined at the Biliran Provincial Hospital.
In a brief interview with the victim this afternoon, she told biliranisland.com that she was not able to identify the burglar but she estimated that her assailant is in his twenties.
The victim added that she was hit by a hard object on her head, which caused her to feel dizzy. She was even told by the burglar not to shout (“Ayaw pag saba!”).
In another interview this afternoon with a lady boarder who slept in the next room at the time of the incident, she said she was awakened by a loud shout coming from Room No. 4 of the apartment around 3 o’clock in the morning.
Upon hearing the loud shout, she opened the jalousie window to know what had happened.
She said that as she looked outside, she just saw the feet of a man hurriedly traversing the balcony of the apartment.
The lady, who refused to reveal her name for security reason, added that as she went outside, she saw the bloody face of the victim and the pool of blood on the floor.
She further told that she was shocked by the gruesome situation of her friend and this prompted her to shout for help.
Her loud shout caused the neighboring residents to be awakened and immediately respond, but the assailant has already escaped
The burglar was also able to enter Room No. 1 of the apartment. No object was lost, but the belongings of the occupants were scattered on the floor, the lady boarder added.
The lady boarder also revealed that the victim was supposed to sleep in Room No. 5 where she slept that night, because that is the room where the victim originally rented together with her.
She said that her friend chose to sleep in Room No. 4 that night since the original occupants who were also their friends were out that night.
The lady boarder could not imagine why such incident happened to her friend. She is also clueless about the motive of the burglar.

thanks for the news. but could i just say something about the way it was written? it could have been better. just a little improvement on the grammar and the flow of thoughts. :D
i know a lot of people will react wildly again. stuff like “hambog uroy”, “arte uroy” blah blah blah. so i would like to say that my criticism should be taken constructively. it’s not meant to hurt feelings or stoop down on the writer. ok peeps?

Okies, why don’t your re-write the main story in your own words and your own style of writing so that we can learn and see how good you are in English grammar. Maybe we can have fun learning here.
Or, maybe you can be a volunteer writer in this site for any police or crime stories happening in Biliran province? That would be nice of you. Please naman.

Someone(#13) talked about being open mind? So why don’t you open your brain to understand what is conveyed in the article, be it in good or bad grammar?…. Or, writing, reading or speaking nonFilipino grammar make you feel something special, different or arrogant? Am I acting wildly or guessing correctly.?

Someone said that it is not enough only to listen what is someone is trying to say, but to understand what is being said. The message may be different what is actually being said.

units of english only in college and was bad at that – just being honest. (J, I know you were trying to be nice to compliment my grammar – thanks).To improve my English though, I watch “the spin stops here”, “huckabee”, “hannity”, “gb”, read bill o’ books, listens to rush limbaugh and howard stern, subscribing fortune magazines, natl geo(and playboy mags too, who wants old issues?), read other online newsline like drudgreport, foxnews, abs-cbn, inquirer, pcij …daghan pa.
So what’s your hobby aside from reading bi.com, j and #13…? EXPAND YOUR HORIZONS, that’s my piece of constructive criticism….

my only real point in commenting about the way the story was written is that, a lot of people visit this site-not only us biliranons. i saw from other posts that there are foreigners from the US, europe, australia, etc. what do think will it look like to them if our news is written this way?
i know my post #3 seems harsh and all but you must know that it used to be post #4. jalmz asked me to write those. his exact word: “juanderpul, palihog kuno ko og post sa mga wrong grammar diha”. so i did.
i really hope we can be more mature about this. my criticism is not for self-glorification. you don’t even know who i am. i can probably write using a different name the next time. so please everyone EXPAND YOUR HORIZONS, open your mind, heart and spirit.. right kritik?

I think it is important that all articles should be grammatically correct since this website promotes our province. It does not mean that when one cites grammatical errors in an article, he/she is criticizing the article itself or the people behind the article and the website.
In addition, news articles aside from being informative, must be written in precise, clear and concise manner so as to be able to deliver its message.
Anyway, if the administrator needs any hand in the editing of articles before it is posted, I offer my assistance. Maybe you can email the articles to me and send them back in the soonest possible times.
I wish to commend and extend my congratulations to the staff of this website for their dedication and hard work. It is not an easy task to maintain a website.

Thank you. As to your query If I’m running, NO I am not, Id rather content myself with helping the right candidate for Biliran and voting for the right person.
