New state university
THIS ISLAND province will soon have a university after the Senate passed a bill that would establish the Naval State University (NSU).
Senate Bill No. 2146, which passed on final reading last Aug. 18, seeks to convert the Naval Institute of Technology into a state university to be known as the Naval State University.
The bill also seeks to integrate with the new state university the Biliran National Agricultural College in Biliran town.
– Rolando O. Borrinaga, Inquirer Visayas
Congratulations to all biliranons.
IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE PROCLAMATION OF NIT AS UNIVERSITY,THERE WILL BE AN ELECTION OF UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT.
I KNOW OF A PERSON WHO IS VERY WORTHY OF THIS POSITION. I HAVE WORKED WITH HIM FOR QUITE A TIME WHEN WE WENT TO ALL THE BARANGAYS WITH THE LATE FR. DAVE TURNBULL,DURING THE ALAY KAPWA TIMES, HE WAS ONE OF THE MOST SOUGHT AFTER SPEAKERS
I HAVE READ ALL HIS PROFESSIONAL WORKS, AND I WAS GREATLY IMPRESSED.
HE IS VERY INTELLECTUALY CAPABLE AND MORALLY FIT FOR THE POSITION OF UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT.
I AM PROUD TO ENDORSE PROFESSOR ROLANDO BORRINAGA AS NAVAL STATE UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT. NSU WILL BE AT ITS BEST WITH PROF. BORRINAGA AT THE HELM.
I HOPE BILIRANONS WILL SUPPORT THIS INITIATIVE AND WILL NOT REST UNTIL HE WILL BE INVESTED AS THE FIRST NSU PRESIDENT.
UNSA NA MAN LANG SI CECIL AYAW INGNA NGA IYANG NA LANG I-DROP ANG IYANG MASTERAL UNIT. MOSAMOT PAGKA ABORIDO NIINI ANG MGA TAGA KAPITOLYO. NGA SA ATO PA, ANG BATO NGA GISALIKWAY SA KAPITOLYO (PERSONA NON-GRATA) NAHIMONG BATO NA SA NSU? HE HE HE.
Prof. Borrinaga can make a difference to NSU students’ lives.
Qualification-wise he has it obviously speaking. Love and Dedication to teaching and learning process he can deliver well and outstandingly without question. Being a true Biliranon and Navaleno makes him a number one candidate for that prestigious position. Good choice Dr. Pajo. I hope there will be no poltical force who will try to discredit his efforts. Collectively we have to have him supported for the betterment of the University and the province as a whole. Let us give credit to what is due to Professor Borinaga… His achievements are all products of his endeavors not but political backings and falsely and egoistically acquired.
I pray that Biliranons will support him to become the very first NSU. President. Please discourage those who have ambition or being endorsed by powerful people who doesn’t have the “IT” as Prof Borrinaga. I heard somebody is trying to plan out some ways, by hook or by crook, to have that position for their family and political prestige..
Yes blogger# 6
Prof Borrinaga has what it takes to become the President of NSU…
Ayaw padala sa mga political moves to discourage you to fight for what is right and what is true for the common good we believe that you have the political will to serve and to deliver the challenging tasks as the institution’s administrator. Please go for it and prove them that you ‘ve got what it takes to be NSU President.. Fight for this post because we believe in your capability to lead and serve the youth of Biliran. We believe in your capacity as an educator and as an educational administrator..
Good luck and we will pray for your safety and success, prospectively speaking.
Niay accomplishment sa usa taga naval nga gisalikway (persona non-grata) sa Kapitolyo ubos sa adminitrtion ni dok rabbit.
JDR mora ug nindot pud ni himoan nimo ug resolution diha sa konseho.
“ FINALLY, IT’S LIMASAWA. The Limasawa vs. Butuan controversy over the site of the First Mass on Philippine Soil on March 31, 1521 has been festering for decades. An attempt by the National Historical Institute (NHI) to settle the issue in the 1990s, by appointing the Gancayco Panel which report favored the Limasawa position, resulted in more, and noisier, protests from the supporters of the Butuan position. Last year, the NHI constituted another committee to re-examine the First Mass issue and conducted a panel hearing through the Forum on the Magellan Expedition held at the National Museum on August 29, 2008. Invited to speak at the forum were Gabriel B. Atega (left), who defended the Magallanes, Agusan del Norte position; Prof. Rolando O. Borrinaga (second from left), who defended the Limasawa position; and Greg Hontiveros (right), who defended the Butuan position. They pose in the above photo with Prof. Ambeth R. Ocampo, chairman of the NHI.
On June 15, 2009, the NHI Board of Directors issued Resolution No. 5, s. 2009, “Declaring as the NHI Position the Recommendation of the Committee on the Site of the First Mass on Philippine Soil.” The committee concluded that “the first mass on Philippine soil was celebrated in an island now known as ‘Limasawa’ on Easter Sunday, 31 March 1521.”

I do agree that Dr. Rolando Borrinaga is highly qualified for the position as president of the Naval State University. I am very confident that with his educational and professional qualifications and experience, plus his exemplary achievements as an educator, historian and author of books , Naval State University will greatly improve and develop into a university worthy of its name,, a university that every Navalenos and Billiranons would be proud of.
