NAVAL, Biliran – Some 1,200 indigent families in two barangays of this municipality received gifts from PNOC-AFC Director Ralph “Raffy” Salazar during the surprise gift-giving to the poor families in Brgys. Sto. Niño and Laca.
Salazar led the gift-giving to more than 1,000 indigent families in Brgy. Sto Niño, while another 200 indigents from Brgy. Laca also received gifts from Dir. Salazar.
The gift-giving of Salazar is a part of his family’s yearly activities and many people in Naval were happy that they received gifts from him.
During the gift-giving, Salazar was accompanied by his family, friends and some relatives.
The indigent families received gifts such as rice, noodles, sardines, sugar, corned beef and others.
Salazar also said that aside from the 1,200 indigent families more than 150 Jathropa farmers also received gifts from him.
The farmers told Leyte Samar Daily Express that they were happy that they received gifts and also cash from Salazar.
Salazar further disclosed that he will spearhead similar gift-giving activities in the days ahead in the towns of Caibiran and Kawayan.
Meanwhile, Salazar said that one of his priorities now is to plant Jathropa in the whole province of Biliran even as he called on other local government unit in Eastern Visayas to engage in Jathropa farming. (LITO A. BAGUNAS)
