CABUCGAYAN, Biliran – Some P7.5 million funds have been allocated to improve the waterworks system of this town, benefiting at least 1,000 households in six barangays.
Cabucgayan outgoing Mayor Arnelito Garing said the funding will be used to purify and improve the waterworks system of the town, with the water sourced from the spring in Barangay Caanibungan.
The project includes source development, construction of filtration gallery, concrete reservoir, perimeter fence, chlorination building, replacement and expansion of distribution lines, said Garing.
The waterworks upgrade is meant at purifying and distilling the water from the spring and make it potable for the affected residents, said the outgoing mayor.
A coastal town, Cabucgayan is a fifth class municipality in the province of Biliran. According to the 2007 census, it has a population of 18,799 people in 3,372 households.
