NAVAL, Biliran – Newly-elected Governor Gerry Boy Espina’s Tabang Pampamilya Program, which is geared towards food security and strengthening of the family, has benifited thousands of Biliranons.
Under the program, free food packages containing 2 kilograms of rice, instant noodles and canned meat products were distributed to less privileged families. Last August 10, Governor Espina started giving the food packages to 65 families in Brgy. Sabang of Naval town.
The first among many people-oriented programs being planned by the young governor, the program aims to alleviate hunger in less-privileged families, so that whatever peso saved is used for other priority needs in the home.
Governor Espina has extended the Tabang Pampamilya to 5,000 families last month.
More than 250 families received free food packages from the governor in Brgy. Victory of Caibiran town in the middle of last August. On the following days, similar packages were also distributed to more than 120 families in Brgy. Imelda and more than 300 families in Brgy. Caraycary, both of Naval town. (Leo Dumon)
