The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Biliran conducted provincial budget hearings on Nov. 3-5, 2010 at the SP Session Hall. The hearings deliberated the appropriate budgets of every department of the provincial government for Fiscal Year 2011.
The provincial budget would be based on income coming from local taxes, Php 5,680,000.00; operating and miscellaneous revenues, Php 20,590,000.00; and Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) amounting to Php 288,417,732.00. The province would have a total budget amounting to Php 314,687,732.00 next year.
Several department budgets were interrogated by Vice-Gov. Atty. Manuel B. Montejo, Jr., the presiding officer, and the eight board members representing the two districts of the province, namely Martin Lagat, Bebiano Jadulco, Eden Apolinar, and Brigido Caneja, III for the First District, and Eriberto Tubis, Gina Maria Enage, Dominador Corpin, and for the Second District, and PCL President Biliran Chapter Ricardo Kho.
The budget hearing will resume on Nov. 9, 2010 for some unfinished discussions and for some other departments to present and defend their respective budgets.
