New facade. The Caibiran Church has a new facade, as shown in the photo. Photo by Kenskie
The facade was blessed last Dec. 24. The project cost P 1.5 M, contributed by parishioners and Caibiranons in Manila. The parish still has some P170 thousand payables for the project.
The erection of this beautiful Park of St. James the Great is owned to the generosity and benevolence to the family of Mr. and Mrs. Marciano Vermug (nee: Toepista Garin) with their children: Marciano Jr., Linda, Wilfredo, Romeo, Ma. Teresa, Bella, Floro and Tita – 2008 Fiesta Hermanos Mayores.
Us we are ushered into the entrance of our parish grounds, and with this beautiful Park in sight, we marvel: How lovely it is to be here. This is indeed the gate of Heaven and the House of God!
Symbolic of the Gate of heaven, in this Park beacons and invites everybody to enter our parish Church, the dwelling place of God.
Blessed and inaugarated on July 24, in the year of the Lord 2008 by the Most Reverend Filomeno G. Bactol, D.D., Bishop of Naval, during the incumbency of Reverend Father Benjamin C. Pantas, J.C.D. and Reverened Father Antonio P. Sevilla, Priest in Team Ministry of the Parish.
This beautiful park is erected in honor of the Apostle St. James the Great, patron and protector of the town of Caibiran
The illustrious Apostle Senor Santiago, as the town folks fondly call him, is enshrined at the center of six great columns representing the rudiments of the town of Caibiran of which Santiago Apostol claims dominion over it. Six magnificent angels keep watch over the town while singing hymns of praises to the majesty of God.
At the foot of the Apostle is the spectacular fountain of the four great rivers of the town, namely: Salog Caibiran, Salog Tinago, Salog Calambis and Salog Mapula providing the much needed irrigation for the land to produce plenty for the nourishment and livelihood of all Caibiranhon.
The Beautiful BAPTISTRY is the realization of the Parishioners` dream of having a worthy place of reception of the holy sacrament of Baptism, the doorway which gives access to the other Sacraments and through which one becomes a member of the fold of Christ and incorporated into His Church.
Adjacent to this Baptistry is the equally beautiful VENEREMUS CHAPEL, the making of which is the expression of the Parishioners` piety and dovotion to the HOLY SAINTS OF GOD.
Gratitude is extended to the benevolence of the following benefactors:
* Mr. Gilbert G. Vinegas
* Caibiran Association of USA (CAUSA)
* 2007 Fiesta and Christmas Sponsorship of the generous Parishioners
* 2007 Town Fiesta proceeds donated for the project whole and entire by the Local Government Unit of Caibiran headed by the Honorable Mayor Floresca Sia-Delante
* and countless other kind-hearted souls.
Blessed and Inaugurated on March 2, 2008 by the Most Reverend Filomeno G. Bactol, D.D., Bishop of Naval, during the term of office of Reverend Father Benjamin C. Pantas, JCD and Reverend Father Antonio A. Sevilla, Priest in Team Ministry of the Parish.

The St. James the Apostle Shrine is indeed very beautiful, it’s one of a kind, i’ve been there and i enjoyed watching the fishes swimming in the fountain. There’s some benches that sorrounds the park where you can relax while facing the mountain and its more exciting to go here in the afternoon while the sun sets down. . . Really, if you have time, try to feel the same experience i had in that place.
I would like to congratulate Fr.Benjie Pantas,Fr. Tony Sevilla,Mayora(Rollie kumusta!) and the people of Caibiran abroad and local for their wholeheartfelt full support in the accomplishment of the beautiful Church.I wish to visit again one day God willing.Good job !!!See you soon Padre,I miss you all!

i am happy that something good is going on in Caibiran especially in the parish church. caibiran is fortunate to have our very own priest, fr. benjie pantas, who is indeed instrumental in improving the church which certainly is very much contributory to the development of the entire community. i heard that more projects are being implemented by fr. benjie and fr. tony sevilla such as selling rice to the people at a very affordable price. if more projects like this could be realized, it would really help the entire community. i believe that community centered projects must grow hand in hand with beautification of the church and even the town of caibiran. God bless us all, and congrats, fr. benjie and fr. tony sevilla.
i am happy that something good is happening in Caibiran, the town where i spent my childhood years. Caibiran is so fortunate to produce a very effective priest by the name of Fr. Benjie Pantas who is instrumental in making the entire St. James parish church very beautiful!. This effort has of course been supported the Fr. Benjie’s assistant priest, Fr. Tony Sevilla. This I believe is an add on to several pluses of the town. After several years, the church has made a 360 degrees turn all for the welfare of the people of Caibiran. God bless us all.
hello everyone! merry christmas and a happy new year to all the Caibiranhons.thanks for making this town a beautiful place to live.
I am so impressed with the developments in Caibiran, especially
in the parish. My first and last visit in the area was ages ago , sometime in 1997… and I also lost touch with people I considered friends during my brief stay as auditor in Naval, most especially Fr Benjie Pantas and Fr. Marvyn Maceda.
Judging from the pictures and notes on the website of Biliran churches, I believe Frs Benjie and Marvyn had done marvelous work not only in their churches but in their parishes as well….
Fr Benjie and Fr Marvyn, congratulations… in case you still remember me… i left Philippines in 2005 and now residing down under (New Zealand)
Can you please give me the e-mail address of St. James The Apostle Parish, Caibiran? Thanks a lot for your help.

Bravo Caibiranhons, I am very proud indeed to be a part of that said town and the Parish of Caibiran.Although I haven’t been there for the past 26 years that does not mean that I have forgotten where my roots are. Pagkahabahaba may daw ng prusisyon sa simbahan din ang tuloy. That I promise you someday I will come and visit you my beloved Caibiran and see your church again God Willing. To the 2 Parish priests God put you their for a reason and for the good of His House of worship and the good of the people. God Bless Fathers.
