MANILA, Philippines (Xinhua) – Two drivers were killed and their buses were burned when armed men attacked them early today in the central Philippines, police said.

Police spokesman Senior Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr. said around seven armed men burned the two passenger buses owned by Silver Star Bus Company in Talahid village, Almeria town, in Biliran province at around 1:00 a.m.

“The cost of damage was estimated at P14 million ($322,580),” he said.

Biliran police arrested two of the suspects as investigation continues, he said.

Initial investigation showed that the drivers were sleeping inside the buses parked just outside the house of its caretaker, when the armed men attacked. They killed the drivers and torched the buses.
