NAVAL, Biliran – The Department of Education (DepEd), Division of Biliran announced that it has started accepting, processing and interviewing applicants for teaching jobs for school year 2011-2012.
This was revealed by Dr. Jose Mondido, Education Program Supervisor of the division who is also the Chairman of the Personnel Selection and Promotions Board in an interview during the “Kapihan at Pulong-pulong nga Bayan” on April 14, 2011 live at Radyo Natin-Naval,
He informed that interview of applicants who have been waiting in line for teaching jobs in the division ends on April 28, 2011.
Aside from the interview, he said, the teacher-applicants are also required to conduct demonstration teaching and skills demonstration to really assess their capability and skills in imparting learnings to the pupils and students.
“Teaching is a passion, and if you choose to become one, you must do your best to become a good and effective teacher,” he said.
He added that for the selection to be more comprehensive and effective, acceptance and processing of applications and the conduct of demonstration teaching by the applicants in the secondary level have been clustered into three, provincewide.
For Cluster 1 which is composed of the municipalities of Caibiran, Culaba and Cabucgayan, the applicants have to go to the the Cabucgayan National School of Arts and Trades (CNSAT) in the municipality of Cabucgayan while Cluster 2 which is composed of the municipalities of Biliran, Naval North and South Districts, the applicants will go to the Naval National High School (NNHS) for the submission of application, interview and demonstration teaching. For Cluster 3, which is composed of the municipalities of Almeria, Kawayan and Maripipi applicants will go to the municipality of Almeria for the evaluation of their applications and demonstration teaching.
On the other hand, applicants for teaching jobs in the elementary level in each district in the Division of Biliran, may see the district supervisor for the submission of their application letter, interview and demonstration teaching.
Dr. Mondido bared that based on DepEd Order No. 20, recruitment of teachers must be conducted objectively and the guidelines must be strictly followed.
He added that, now, hiring of teachers is document-based which means that grades in the transcript of records, board examination rating, experience in substitute teaching are given more weight in the ranking of teachers for teaching posts.
”Knowledge in computer operation is also a plus factor,” he said.
Furthermore, he said, in the hiring of teachers for the division of Biliran, localization does not apply, but the major field of specialization is of top consideration.
When asked about his opinion on the enhanced K+12 basic education program of DepEd, Dr. Mondido said, the program will give the pupils and students enough preparation and quality education before entering college level of education. (FEJ/PIA-Biliran)
