NAVAL, Biliran – As part of the three day celebration of the 19th provincehood anniversary celebration on May 11, various kinds of products are on sale starting yesterday, Monday, May 9 at the Nipa Hut located at the capitol compound of the province of Biliran.
Around 32 booths from the eight municipalities of the province, national government agencies, and private sectors display their local products coming from both land and sea. Goods for sale range from fruits, vegetables, flowers, eggs, fish, seaweeds, local delicacies, cakes and pastries, organic rice, alternative fuel from coconut, decors and housewares, plants and seedlings, handicrafts and bamboo crafts, organic rice and fertilizers, and other products locally made.
Products currently on sale at the agro-trade fair are prepared and products of individuals, groups and organizations who have availed support from the different government agencies to help them uplift their economic status and become productive citizens of Biliran and of the country as a whole.
Other booths sell products of networking scheme that also help its proprietors augment their income.
Also on display at the trade fair are the different scenic views and historical landmarks of the province of Biliran which are potential preference as tourist destinations.
The three-day agro-trade fair is in line with the current thrust of the Provincial Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise Development (PMSMED) Council that promotes to develop food processing; agri-tourism; and gift, toys, housedecors/houseares industries. (LPT/PIA Biliran)
