Neglected, abandoned. The Family Park at Brgy. Larrazabal, a project of a past administration, has been left to the elements by a ruling political clan. Video taken last June 2011.
The Family Park at Barangay Larrazabal is maintained by the Biliran Provincial Government. Among its amenities are an Olympic-size swimming pool and a children’s swimming pool (in the photo) surrounded by concrete kiosks with mushroom-motif. Picture taken last 2000.
What it is now…
These pictures are just some of the sad realities that most of us are just callous its existence. Many become insensitive to the fact that such facilities indeed is immobilized and should I say useless (sorry for the word) because it does not anymore serve its intended purpose. Perhaps, I consider it useless for it seems that there is no proper maintenance as obviously seen in the picture. The pool is filled of dirty stagnant water, untrimmed grass, and garbage trash is scattered all over the place.
Looking to that scenario made me feel sick. Before, I used to visit this place together with some of my friends who came from other places. And most of them would say, the place is so beautiful and suited for relaxation and even much fitted for family gatherings/picnic. But, now it is totally different. It is not the place I used to visit before. So, I begin questioning and wondering why this place is not properly maintained?
I am calling the attention of our government officials who are responsible for this. What are you doing now? Is this something you can be proud of? Is this what you call public service? Or is it the best thing you can do? I believe this is the time for me to question the sincerity of your intention to really serve for the best interest of the people. These pictures are tangible and perfect examples how Biliran Island is being uncared by our government officials. This very truth speaks for itself. This is indeed a sad reality.
