NAVAL, Biliran, – It’s a great honor and pride for the members of the Philippine Nurses Association (PNA), Biliran Chapter to host the 2011 PNA 8 Regional Convention here at the Naval State University (NSU) gymnasium in Naval, Biliran on September 23 and 24 this year.

Willard Riveral, a registered nurse, and head of the Nursing Department of the NSU who is also the President of the of the PNA-Biliran chapter and over-all Chairman of the 2011 PNA regional convention in Eastern Visayas informed that the activity aims to discuss quality nursing care and service and other issues affecting the nursing profession in the country, among others.

He said the very important gathering of nursing professionals from all over region 8 in Eastern Visayas will be graced by the presence of the local officials of Naval and the province of Biliran, PNA national officers, regional directors of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the Department of Health, Deans of Colleges of Nursing, Chief Nurses of Hospitals, staff nurses from various health agencies, clinical instructors and nursing students from the different Colleges of Nursing in region 8.

He added that the two-day event will be highlighted by the search for Miss PNA-EV 2011 which is a popularity contest.

Each PNA provincial chapter in Eastern Visayas will put up a candidate for the search.

In Biliran province, Mr. Riveral said, he has already asked for the support of the provincial government of Biliran in the search through Governor Gerardo Espina, Jr. and the LGUs of the 8 municipalities of the province in the bid of Miss PNA-Biliran Chapter to win the crown of Miss PNA-EV 2011.

The PNA-Biliran chapter being the host of the event will hold a testimonial dinner and fellowship night to welcome all the participants and guests to the convention on September 23 at 7:00 o’clock in the evening at the NSU gymnasium. (FEJ/PIA 8 Biliran)
