NAVAL, Biliran – Some 300 nursing professionals who are members of the Philippine Nurses Association (PNA) – Eastern Visayas (EV) Chapter will gather at the Naval State University (NSU) gymnasium in Naval, Biliran to attend the 2011 PNA regional convention come September 23 and 24.

The event will be hosted by the PNA-Biliran chapter through its president Willard Riveral who is the head of the Nursing Department of the NSU here and the over-all chairman of the regional convention.

In an interview with Riveral during the Kapihan sa PIA fourm, he said, the participants to the regional convention of nursing professionals are composed of the deans of colleges of nursing, chief nurses of hospital, staff nurses from various health agencies and clinical instrtuctors (CIs).

Also in attendance are the nursing students from the different colleges of nursing in region 8 in Eastern Visayas.
The occasion will be graced by the attendance of the local officials of Naval and the province of Biliran, PNA national officials, regional directors of the Commission on Higher Edcuation and the Department of Health (DOH) and other guests.

The two-day activity aims to discuss issues affecting the nursing profession in the country. Likewise, the activity aims to discuss quality health service that nurses give to their patients.

Likewise, the gathering of nurses also aims to enhance the camaraderie of all PNA nurse-members in Eastern Visayas as they share experiences in their field of assignments in the six provinces of region 8.

Mr. Riveral informed that the two-day event is divided into two parts. Day one of the convention will be devoted to lectures and sessions on important topics pertaining to the nursing profession and other relevant topics that help enhance the work of nurses as health care providers.

The second day would be a tour of all participants by groups to the different tourist destinations and natural attractions found all around the island province of Biliran.

The tour, according to Mr. Riveral will provide the convention participants a chance to see the beauty of Biliran as an island paradise with its unique natural attractions not found in other province outside Biliran.

The 2011 PNA 8 Regional Convention carries the theme “Filipino Nurses Driving Access, Quality and Health.” (FEJ/PIA 8 Biliran)
