NAVAL, Biliran – A top official of the police regional office in Eastern Visayas bared the new thrust of the Philippine National Police (PNP)leadership in the furtherance of professionalism and giving an efficient and effective service to the public.
Police Chief Superintendent Vicente A. Loot, deputy regional director for administration of the Police Regional Office in Region 8 shared the new PNP thrust to the officers and men of the Biliran Provincial Police Office (BPPO) in the turn-over of command ceremony of the new provincial police director of the BPPO held today, Thursday, June 7, 2012.
PCSupt Loot said that the PNP under director general Nicanor Bartolome has embarked on Performance Governance System (GPS) where performance from the highest police officer to the lowest in rank is measured through a scorecard system.
“Each police officer will be provided with a scorecard which contains checklist of responsibilities” PCSupt Loot informed, stressing that the scorecard will be submitted in a monthly basis to the superior officer where the latter will rate the scorecard based on the tasks achieved on the checklist of responsibilities.
He gave as an example the assigned task of police officer like as an investigator and other related police tasks where the police officer will have to reflect in his scorecard each task delivered and achieved on a daily basis.
The scorecard of responsibilities or the tasks to be performed by police officers in a particular unit will be aligned with the performance target of the unit head and the same will be applied also in the rating of higher officers of the PNP leadership, PCSupt Loot added.
“A police officer will be administratively sanctioned if he cannot meet the required performance rating based on the tasks provided in his individual scorecard” PCSupt Loot emphasized. (rvictoria/PIA 8 Biliran)
