NAVAL, Biliran – The new district engineer of Biliran District Engineering Office (BDEO) of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in the person of Engr. David P. Adongay, Jr. was installed on Thursday, October 18, 2012 following the mandatory retirement of outgoing District Engineer Virginia Sarabusing.

The ceremony which was attended by guests from the DPWH regional office no. 8, officials from other district engineering offices of DPWH in Eastern Visayas, relatives and friends of the outgoing and the incoming DE, contractors, and the BDEO officials and staff, was held on the occasion of the birthday celebration of Engr. Sarabusing at the BDEO compound in Brgy. Calumpang, Naval, Biliran.

DPWH Undersecretary Rafael Yabut who visited Tacloban yesterday and DPWH 8 Regional Director Rolando Asis who were expected to grace the occasion could not make it due to a previous engagement.

In her farewell message, Engr. Sarabusing thanked the BDEO officials and employees for their love, support and cooperation during her stint as district engineer of Biliran province.

“Five years ago, when things were very different then, I found excitement in work very pulsating and passion for it so intense because you were all behind me for the program and thrusts of the DPWH. We had experienced our fair share of difficulties, but however tough the going might have been, we made it through. Thank you for all the faith you gave me in my capacity as your DE. You made me more effective and efficient” said Engr. Sarabusing to her BDEO staff.

“I am confident and happy to introduce to you your new head of office, Engr. David Adongay. He is a man of determination, drive and commitment to a selfless public service”, she said.

In his acceptance speech, Engr. Adongay likewise told the BDEO employees that he is here in the BDEO to serve and lead the employees to the best he can.

He vowed to sustain the infrastructure development of Biliran province as he urged the employees to be united and work as one, saying that only in teamwork can they succeed in their endeavor.

“Hard work is not enough, dedication is not sufficient, our determination must always be accompanied with commitment. Our primary duty as government workers is to serve the people, therefore, we have to act with utmost sincerity, integrity and efficiency, so that people will trust us”, he said.

He vowed to continue the initiatives and policies of his predecessor especially in the on-going projects in the province and those that are already in the pipeline, hence, he is soliciting the support and cooperation of the BDEO officials and staff.

Engr. Adongay hails from Northern Samar and was the District Engineer of the Northern Samar 2nd Engineering District of the province prior to his new assignment in Biliran province. (PIA Biliran)
