NAVAL, Biliran – The Biliran Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office headed by Flordeliza Trani, provincial social welfare and development officer (PSWDO), is in the process of completing the furnishings of the Bahay Pag-asa, a residential treatment facility and a transition and rehabilitation home for the disadvantaged youth and children at risk in the province of Biliran which is located at Brgy. Larrazabal, Naval, Biliran.
This was revealed by Miss Trani herself in an interview with the Philippine Information Agency.
She said her office is almost done in providing pieces of furniture, kitchen utensils, cooking facilities, beds and linens and other items to furnish the bedroom and other things that will make the occupants of the Bahay Pag-asa feel it is a real home away from home.
She added that as soon as the Bahay Pag-asa is fully furnished, the beneficiaries will immediately occupy the facility.
Bahay Pag-asa houses children and youth in need of care, protection, rehabilitation so that they will be transformed and become productive members of the community where they live.
The construction of Bahay Pag-asa, Ms. Trani said, is a symbol of unity, cooperation and convergence of resources of the Biliran Peer Counselors Organization (BiPCO, the members of the Responsible Youth and Family (RYF), Provincial Technical Working Group (PTWG) and the Inter-local RYF Network with the ultimate aim of helping the disadvantaged children and youth go back to normal life.
Bahay Pag-asa was conceived by competent and dedicated public servants and officials of the local government units (LGUs) in the province of Biliran for human development which is focused on the disadvantaged children and youth.
It was learned that the construction of Bahay Pag-asa was made possible through the joint efforts of Biliran Governor Gerardo Espina, Jr, chairman of the Inter-local RYF with the financial support of Senator Francis Pangilinan and Congressman Rogelio Espina of the lone district of Biliran.
Ms. Trani informed that Cong. Espina also provided funds for the purchase of house furnishings and other facilities to fully equip Bahay Pag-asa before said home structure will be occupied by the beneficiaries.
She added that the LGUs and the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation in Biliran province cost-shared and contributed funds for the construction of the building.
Moreover, she said that the provincial government of Biliran donated one hectare lot for the said facility which was inaugurated recently with no less than Congressman Espina and Governor Espina, Jr. leading the local officials in the province and the guests in the unveiling ceremony of the marker of the building.
