NAVAL, Biliran – In order to step up preparations for the May, 2013 elections and to achieve a “Secure and Fair Elections (SAFE), the provincial office of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) here in Biliran province is inviting all deputies coming from the national government agencies (NGAs), media, non-government organizations, and other groups to the 2nd General Conference on Friday, March 15.

According to the letter-invitation sent by Atty. Sabino Mejarito, Provincial Election Supervisor, to the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), the gathering is aimed at strengthening ties among deputies and unite them to achieve honest, orderly and peaceful elections come May, 2013 mid-term elections .

He said the activity will be held at the Nipa Hut complex inside the capitol grounds at 8:30 in the morning.

Further, he informed that the agenda of the 2nd general conference of COMELEC deputies include the assessment of Election 2013 preparations including compliance on various election laws as Comelec deputies; assessment of election duties and responsibilities of Comelec officials, employees and deputies.

The conference will be highlighted by the launching of the Search for Illegal Propaganda-free barangays.

The composition of the panel of judges to the search will be announced during the general conference.

The creation of the Provincial Election Monitoring Action Center (PEMAC) provincewide will also be discussed.

Discussions of the security preparations for the Board of Election Inspectors (BEI) and their deputy from the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine Army will form part of the agenda of the meeting.

Atty. Mejarito expressed his thanks to the Comelec deputies in Biliran for their support and attendance to the 1st General Meeting held recently. (PIA 8 Biliran)
