Deaths from last night’s accident now 5. Jia Bacalla, 7 years old, female, died at 4:15 pm.

Of 3 children injured in last night’s accident, 2 are stable and 1 remains critical at St. Paul’s Hospital in Tacloban. Bileco is providing assistance.

The accident happened around 7:31 pm July 3, 2013 along the national highway in front of NSU Biliran campus. The driver was Poncio Olano Banluta, 46 yrs old, of Brgy Larrazabal, Naval. 16 years of service in Bileco. He was reportedly drunk.

The vehicle involved was Bileco crew Isuzu cab no. 611, with plate number TMI 4O6.

Four young people were reported dead while three others were sent to the St. Paul’s Hospital in Tacloban City after they were hit by a BILECO crew cab in Biliran, Biliran early this evening, July 4, 2013. The vehicle’s driver was immediately detained at the Biliran Police Station.

The BILECO Management assumed all liabilities by extending moral and financial assistance to the family of the victims immediately after the incident. GM Marlon Roa coordinated with the BILECO personnel to facilitate the mortuary and other necessary assistance to the bereaved family. He also coordinated with the municipal health units for the possible use of ambulance to transport the victim to Tacloban City along with BILECO personnel for medical assistance.
