After complying with all legal and governmental permits and requirements, Biliran Geothermal Incorporated (BGI) started drilling its first well this morning at around 6 o’clock for the initial 49 MW power project in Brgy. Cabibihan, Caibiran, Biliran.
In preparation for the drilling activities, a four (4) kilometre road stretch was rehabilitated on the project area with road breaks and detour construction at Brgy. Kaulanguhan, Caibiran for the passage and hauling of heavy materials and equipment. The causeway at Pinamihagan, Culaba had been extended and improved by BGI to barge in Icelandic Drilling’s (IDC) rig materials and equipment mid August and has already been completely installed on site with a 24/7 crew for the full drilling operations
Alongside its extensive Civil Work Projects and Drilling Activities BGI continues its Corporate Social Responsibility to the Local Community of Caibiran, Biliran having initially donated a Water Reservoir to the host community to provide potable water to its residents.
On their timeline, a BGI Power Plant is expected to be commissioned on the last quarter of 2015 to the first quarter of 2016.
