NAVAL, Biliran (PIA) – Congressman Rogelio J. Espina of the lone district of Biliran province is the new chairman of the Biliran council of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP).

Espina was unanimously elected as the new chairman of the BSP-Biliran council by majority votes of the regular board members of the BSP-Biliran council in an election held on Monday, March 25, at the conference room of the DepEd Division of Biliran.

The Biliran solon will lead and serve as chairman of the BSP-Biliran council for a period of three years beginning 2014.

According to Dr. John Anthony Romagos, vice president for planning, research, extension and production services of the Naval State University, who is also the scout council executive of BSP-Biliran council, the election of Congressman Espina as the new chairman of the scout council in Biliran province will make the council more vibrant to the already active scount council.

Romagos said that he also hopes that the election of Congressman Espina will pave the way for a more active scouting movement in the province.

He also told that Congressman Espina has already informed him relative to the construction of an office building for BSP-Biliran to be situated near the division office of DepEd-Biliran in Barangay Larrazabal, this town.

Also elected are Dr. Gerardo Paghid, district supervisor of Maripipi town as 1st vice-chairman and Alma Atibula, principal of Caucab Elementary School as 2nd vice-chairman of BSP-Biliran council where they will also serve for a period of three years. # (PIA 8 Biliran)
