NAVAL,Biliran (PIA) – His voice of appeal echoed with candidness during the initial meeting held recently in Biliran province regarding the Million Volunteer Run 3 said it all “run and help fellowmen.”
Atty.Mike Tezon, chairman of the Philippine Red Cross (PRC)-Leyte chapter made the appeal to Biliranons to join the nationwide simultaneous charity run led by the PRC that will be held on December 13, 2015 (Sunday).
“The P400 registration fee with free singlet for each participants to the PRC-led charity run will go a long way in helping the communities in need of immediate assistance not only in our country but also in other places around the globe,” the white-haired fatherly figure chair of PRC-Leyte said to the participants of the initial meeting participated in by municipal social welfare and development officers (MSWDO) of the eight towns in Biliran province and heads and representtives of various national government agencies, peoples’ organizations and non-government organizations stationed in the province.
He further explained that part of the P400 registration fee amounting to P360 will go to the PRC fund to be used in the different programs, projects and activities (PPAs) undertaken by PRC particularly on disaster risk reduction and management capability training, humanitaran assistance like food medical and shelter, to places hardly hit by calamities like the catasthropic tsunami in Japan, deadly earthquake in Nepal and the super typhoon Yolanda here in the country and to other equally relevant humanitarian PPAs extended by the Red Cross organizations around the world.
“Joining the PRC-led charity run is like hitting two birds in a row because it helps us in burning body fats and calories and on the other side the registration helps much in alleviating the pain, anguish and agony of our fellowmen who are victims of natural calamities and disasters,” Tezon emphasized, adding that the P40 will serve as mobilization fund in the conduct of the nationwide simultaneous charity run.
The Million Volunteer Run 3 that will be held for the first time in Biliran province in coordination with PRC-Leyte chapter is set to be held in Naval town, being the capital province of Biliran, as agreed during the initial meeting with routes of the run estimated at 5 kilometers starting from the Biliran provincial Capitol ground going down to identified streets in Naval and passing through the national highway in Barangay Caray-Caray and traversing through Sito Lupa junction and back to the provincial capitol.
Registratiion forms for the PRC Million Volunteeer Run 3 are available in all MSWDO and municipal police stations in the eight towns in Biliran province, Governor’s office, national government offices and in non-government organizations like the Ormoc Community Credit Cooperative (OCCI) and other identified peoples’ organizations in Naval. # (fj/PIA 8 Biliran)
