Update 07/14/2016: The fugitive driver involved in the accident had surrendered.

Naval, Biliran – Three male students were injured last Wednesday, July 13, 2016 when the vehicle they were riding in was hit along Caneja Extension, Brgy P.I. Garcia, Naval, Biliran.

A group of students were injured when their motorcycle was struck by an oncoming vehicle along Caneja Extension, infront of Ruth’s Junkshop Store shortly before 9:50 pm. The suspect fled the scene of the crash.

According to the police report, this group of students was heading to Biliran when they collided with another vehicle traveling in opposite direction toward Naval proper. Witnesses reported that the suspect was driving fast in a zig zag path, on same lane as the injured parties, which resulted in the head-on collision. The victims’ vehicle was on the correct lane.

The victims were transported by a bystander to Biliran Provincial Hospital (BPH) for immediate treatment of the injuries sustained. They were identified as Severo Arcillas, 24 years old, resident of Brgy., Macopa, Leyte, William Collanto, 20 years old, and Cyrille Gutierrez, 18 years old both residents of Kawayan, Biliran. The driver Arcillas was not able to present a driver’s license nor OR/CR of the vehicle.

The suspect is nowhere to be found and yet to be identified. The Honda XRM 125 driven by the suspect is owned by a certain Edgardo Manacio, a resident of Calumpang, Naval, Biliran.

Meanwhile, both vehicles involved were brought to Naval Police Station. The crash remains under investigation. – BiliranIsland.com
