NAVAL, Biliran – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Biliran District Engineering Office (BDEO) has now a new OIC-Assistant District Engineer effective last Monday, October 10.
Engr. Alfredo L. Bollido, Chief of Maintenance Section will succeed Engr. Bonifacio G. Santana as OIC-Assistant District Engineer because the latter officially retired at 65 on October 9, 2016.
Bollido assumed post by virtue of Memorandum Order dated September 22, 2016 in view of the compulsory retirement of Santana.
It is stated in the Memorandum that Bollido will perform the duties and assume the responsibilities appurtenant to the position.
The designation took effect not earlier than the date of the retirement of Santana until such time that a regular Assistant District Engineer shall have been appointed.
Bollido, 57, turning 58 this October 30 was born in Sta. Rita Western Samar. He graduated his Primary education in Camaysi Elementary School in Samar and finished Secondary education in Leyte Colleges. In 1979, he graduated Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering at the Divine Word University, Tacloban City.
He started his career at the DPWH-Biliran DEO as a Civil Engineering Aide I in Sept. 1, 1980 until he became a regular employee in 1982 taking on the position of General Construction Foreman which later on was followed with his promotion as Civil Engineer from 1983 to 1988.

While working, Bollido took Master of Public Management in Naval Institute of Technology (now Naval State University) and graduated in 1998. The following year, he was promoted to the position of Engineer II.
Aiming for a career advancement, he took Bachelor of Laws and graduated on 2006 on the same school. In 2009, he was promoted to Engineer III position and was assigned as Chief of Construction Section.
He became Chief of Maintenance Section for seven years before he was designated as OIC-Assistant District Engineer this month.
With the re-assignment of Bollido, Engr. Glenda G. Dagalea was designated as Acting Chief of Maintenance Section. (CHEQ/BDEO)
