The regional sports coordinator who also acted as sports manager in the Palarong Pambansa for the past six years said medalists in the individual events will automatically represent the region in the national competitions. Core players of the champion teams and selected competent players during the regional games will compete in the Palarong Pambansa.

Region 8 is a region to watch in the coming Palarong Pambansa to be held in San Jose, Antique from April 23-29 being the champion in the demo sports competition in last year’s national games in Albay, said Verunque.

Last year’s demo sports include billiard, wushu, futsal, and wrestling where Visayan players showed adeptness. These sports are now included in the Palarong Pambansa as regular sports.
