Cabucgayan, Biliran – The Department of Agriculture regional office 8 (DA RFO-8) based in Tacloban City has allocated agricultural assistance to the farmers of this town for Yolanda rehabilitation.

Cabucgayan Mayor Edwin Masbang said Manila that his town is a recipient of the DA RFO-8’s Yolanda rehabilitation program in restoring the agriculture sector in Region 8.

Mayor Masbang said that his town has signified to undertake the implementation of the project in his municipality under the “build back better” approach which is a comprehensive intervention that includes assistance in terms of production inputs, generic materials, infrastructure and machineries, production support facilities and field supplies in partnership with the local government units.

DA RFO-8’s OIC Regional Executive Director, U-Nichols A. Manalo told Manila Bulletin that his office has allocated the assistance for the local government unit of this town worth P21,543,738 funded by the Yolanda Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Program (YRRP) for the farmers who were victims of the super typhoon Yolanda last November 8, 2013.

Manalo said that the YRRP agricultural assistance is composed of modern farm machineries, equipment, tools and inputs like seeds, fertilizers and farm animals for the qualified beneficiaries of this town.

Cabucgayan is a 5th class municipality with 20,788 population according to the 2015 census. The town has an area of 54.19 square kilometers with 13 barangays.
