UPDATE 5 PM. PAGASA lifted the Storm Signal Number 1 over Biliran Island.

NAVAL, Biliran – Heavy rains spawned by Tropical Depression “Salome” are expected in Biliran which is now placed under Storm Signal Number 1.

Storm Signal Number 1 is also hoisted over Metro Manila, Rizal, Bataan, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate including Ticao and Burias Islands, Romblon, Marinduque, Quezon, Laguna, Cavite, Batangas, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Northern Samar, Samar, Biliran province.

As of 2 p.m on Thursday, Salome was spotted 50 km West Southwest of Legazpi City, Albay with 55 km per hour of maximum sustained winds, 90 km per hour gustiness and moving west northwest at 25 kilometers per hour.

Salome is expected to exit PAR on Sunday.

Mayor Gerard Roger Espina suspended classes in the elementary levels in Naval.
