Naval, Biliran — Rep. Rogelio J. Espina welcomed the canonical installation of new Diocese of Naval Bishop Rex C. Ramirez who was installed last Friday at the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral here.

Rep.Espina said that although he was not able to attend the installation rites of Bishop Ramirez as he was in the birthday of Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez in Tagum City,Davao on that day, his son, Naval Mayor Gerard Espina and brother, Governor Gerardo J. Espina Jr. and other local officials of Biliran were present.

“I am happy that Bishop Ramirez is now here and we look forward to a closer relation with him. As a young bishop, Monsignor Ramirez will be energetic and dynamic like retired Bishop Filomeno G. Bactol,” Rep. Espina told Manila Bulletin.

Bishop Ramirez was installed as the second  Naval bishop by Palo Archbishop John F.Du replacing Bishop Bactol who retired after reaching the mandatory age of 75 three years ago.

The Diocese of Naval has 16 parishes which include towns in the main island of Leyte covering the third district of Leyte and in the main Biliran island and Maripipi island town.
