NAVAL, Biliran – Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez is the first ever Speaker of the House of Representatives to have visited Biliran Province.

Alvarez made the historic visit two months after the province was greatly devastated by Typhoon Urduja, taking away 56 casualties and damage to both agriculture and infrastructures.

Biliran’s top local leaders, Cong. Rogelio J. Espina and Gov. Gerardo J. Espina, Jr. welcomed the House Speaker.

Alvarez visited one of the damaged bridges in the province, partcularly in Brgy. Caraycaray and distributed relief goods to the victims of the typhoon.

In a presscon, Alvarez pointed out ‘an assurance of help from the Congress in terms of rehabilitation and other programs intended to the victims of the typhoon’.
