NAVAL, Biliran – At the height of Fire Prevention Month, a fire broke out in Vergenia Nivera’s house, in Caneja Extension, Naval, Biliran, 9:40 this morning.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. However, the estimated cost of damage is more or less Php 900, 000.
Adelin Ramos, 37, Nevira’s relative acquired a first degree burn and was immediately ran to the hospital.
Naval Fire Station received the call at 9:50 and responded with two firetrucks. The emergency went up to the first alarm. Firefighters declared fire out at 10:24.
While the incident is still under investigation, F03 Ronald Lepasana has observed the pile of plastics and clothes stock in one of the victim’s room.
“Dapat kasi hindi mag stock ng ganito. Dapat din ang kwarto open para may malalabasan ang hangin. Ang kanila kasi ay confined,” Lepasana observed.
Furthermore, he admonished everyone to be alert especially during this hot weather.
“Maging mapagmatiyag. Pag hindi ginagamit ang appliances, patayin, tanggalin mismo ang saksakan para iwas sunog. Bawal ang octupos connection. Pag lumabas sa bahay, i-off ang plangka para safe.” – BiliranIsland.com
