NAVAL, Biliran, August 27 – A level 3 high value target (HVT) was killed in a shootout with the arresting authorities in a buy-bust operation on Monday morning.

This morning August 27, 2018, Alba was shot by the arresting team after drawing his firearm upon sensing the approaching arresting officers.

Killed in a shootout was Jewarth Laude Alba, aka “Joe-Art,” a listed level 3 HVT on the drug watchlist, in a buy-bust operation held at around 5:20 in the morning of August 27.

Purchased item from the suspect was one heat- sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance believed to be “shabu”.

Alba was arrested in his temporary residence in Lebajan area located in Brgy. Atipolo, Naval, Biliran.

On May 26, 2016, Jewarth Laude Alba was arrested for violation of Section 5 and 6 RA 9165 but was acquitted last Feb. 18, 2018.

The Regional Drug Enforcement Unit of the Philippine National Police in Region 8 and PNP Naval DEU did the buy-bust operation. The team was led by PSupt. Harry V. Sucayre.

Scene of the Crime Operatives (Soco) recovered one unit cal. 45 STI edge pistol with SN 119373, with magazine loaded with four cal. 45 ammos; four pcs. fired bullets/slugs; and ten pcs. fired cartridges.
