NAVAL, Biliran — The chief probation officer of the Biliran Parole and Probation Administration (PPA) has appealed to the public, agencies and establishments for support for the probationers and parolees in the entire province of Biliran.
During the recent PIA Pulong-Pulong ng Bayan over Radyo Natin-Naval, Nelida Palconite appealed to generous individuals, government agencies, and private establishments to extend help and support to their current 86 clients who regularly report to their office for monitoring and other rehabilitation programs.
“The assistance their clients need include skills trainings, livelihood assistance as well as assistance for transportation expenses from their residences to the PPA office, food assistance,” Palconite said.
Palconite is optimistic that with the support of the families and communities under restorative justice, the probationers and parolees will gain self-confidence and be back in the society, living normal lives in the community they belong.
The Biliran PPA office currently has 58 probationers and 28 parolees under the supervision of Alfredo Delo Santos, supervising parole and probation officer.
More applications, mostly drug-related cases, are in the process in the PPA office which will soon add up to the current number.
With the possible increase of their clients, Palconite invited interested individuals to be Volunteer Probation Assistants to assist them in monitoring and surveillance of clients in their respective barangays.
Palconite also appealed to the public to support these parolees and probationers and give them a chance to change. (LD/LMLT/PIA-8, BIliran)
