NAVAL, Biliran (PIA) — The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Biliran will be conducting data dissemination on official statistics as part of the agency’s kickoff activity highlights for the month-long celebration of the 30th National Statistics Month in October this year.
Discussion will focus on the provincial data on agriculture, population, poverty, and vital statistics, among others, which will be participated in by representatives from national government agencies, local government units , stakeholders , and the general public, said Renavil V. Cueva, PSA-Biliran chief statistical specialist.
The data dissemination, which will be held in the afternoon on September 27 at the BiPSU Hostel, include the following topics: Updating List of Establishments/Census of Philippine Business and Industry; Vital Statistics; Price Statistics; Agriculture Statistics; Poverty Statistics; and the Sustainable Development Goals/2020 Census of Population and Housing.
This year’s celebration carries the theme, “Data Innovation: Key to a Better Nation,” which underscores the role of data innovation in providing quality statistics, Cueva said emphasizing that these statistics will measure the nation’s progress in achieving national development goals.
A mass will be held at 6 o’clock in the morning at the Naval Cathedral, to be followed by a motorcade around poblacion Naval, and an opening ceremony, will form part of the kickoff activities.
Cueva further said that PSA Biliran will conduct the first fun run (5K) dubbed StatMan Fun Run on September 28 which will start and end at the Provincial Capitol Grounds.
Registration will start at 4 o’clock in the morning and this will be followed by a Zumba to be led by personnel from PSA and the Department of Trade and Industry.
Free hot meal will be provided to the participants. The top 10 finishers will be given awards, finisher certificate and certificate of participation.
Other activities which were presented during the special meeting on September 10 at the PSA Biliran Conference Room include the hanging of streamers, statistical exhibit, stat quiz on air, statistical bulletin board contest, essay writing contest, provincial stat quiz among Grade 10 students and college freshmen, and bench yell contest.
