NAVAL, Biliran – Five minors were rescued by a joint team from the Women and Children Protection Center – Visayas Field Unit (WCPC-VFU), International Justice Mission, Biliran Provincial Police, DSWD Region 8, Provincial Social Welfare and Caibiran and Naval Police stations during simultaneous entrapment operations in Caibiran and Naval town against child traffickers in the afternoon on Wednesday (Oct 9) in this province.
The first entrapment operation was conducted in Brgy. Victory, Caibiran which resulted to the rescue of a 2 yr old girl and a 10 yr old who was used by the suspects in their child trafficking activities to foreigners.
The two minors according to authorities conduct a lewd show and will be seen by foreigners live in the internet using a tablet and for a fee. The arresting group confided that the usual fee for foreigners watching the show is $30 per show.
The next operation was conducted at Brgy. P. I. Garcia in the capital town of Naval where the joint team rescued three female minors one is two yrs old, one 11 yr old and the eldest is 17. The elder girls will present a lewd show in front of a tablet and will be seen by foreigners that fee in dollars. One of the rescued minor is a high school student in one of the high schools in the province of Biliran.
Five suspects were arrested by authorities during the simultaneous operation held in this province on Wednesday. Three females are siblings, one female cousin and one male neighbor who is there errand in collecting fees from money courier services.
The five suspects are presently detained at the lock up cell of Caibiran Police Station.
The suspects is facing charges for violations of Sec 4 (a) in relation to Sec 6 (a) and (d) of RA 9208 as amended RA 10364 in relation to Sec. 6 of RA 10175 (Qualified Trafficking in Persons committed though, by with the use of Information, Communication and Technology) and 7610.
