Habalhabal driver arrested during buy-bust operation

Biliran, Biliran – A habal-habal driver was arrested during a buy-bust operation by operatives of the joint forces from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Biliran Province and the Municipal Drug Enforcement Team (MDET) of the local police around 2:20 in the afternoon today (Mar 3) at Brgy. San Roque here.

Biliran COP Police Capt. Romeo Q. Sudario identified the suspect as Renier Allan Ocsing y Corpin, alias “Ryan,” 34, single, driver and a resident of the barangay.

Recovered from his possession was one sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu, procured by an operative in the amount of P500. During body search, the searching cop recovered another sachet containing the same white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu estimated to have a street value of P500. Further search resulted in the recovery of the P500 bill bearing serial number C313629, which was the marked money used in the operation.

The suspect denied owning the illegal drugs recovered from him, saying it was just planted by the police on him.

But the police said that they conducted a month-long surveillance of the suspect after receiving information from informants that he allegedly sells the illegal substance.

Charges of Violation of Sec. 5 (Selling illegal drugs) and Sec 11 (Possession of illegal drugs) of Art. II of RA 9165, the Comprehensive Law against Illegal Drugs of 2002, is being readied by the arresting officers for the suspect, who is temporarily languishing at the detention cell of the local Police Station here. – BiliranIsland.com
