Biliran, Biliran — A construction worker in Manila who returned to his native land here before the lockdown in Luzon was arrested in by operatives of the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) and the Station Drug Enforcement Team (SDET) of the local police about 10: 50 in the morning today at Zone 3, Brgy. Sangalang of this municipality.

Biliran PDEU Chief Police Capt. Chamberline B. Ludevise identified the suspect as Joey Andrino y Escalera, 37, married, farmer and a resident of the said barangay.

Recovered from his possession was one sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu, procured by an operative for P500. During body search, the searching policeman recovered the P500 bill bearing serial number TY291846, which was used in the buy-bust operation.

Biliran COP Capt. Romeo Sudario told media that barangay informants told the local police about the alleged illegal activity of the suspect, selling alleged shabu to several habal-habal drivers. He said that they conducted a monitoring of the suspect and found out that the report was indeed true.

He added that after learning that the suspect is involved in the selling of the illegal drugs, they conducted a buy- bust against the suspect.

The suspect told media that the evidences recovered from him was not his.
He said that the police just put these into his pocket.

Charges of Violation of Sec 5 (Selling illegal drugs) of Art. II of RA 9165, the Comprehensive Law against Illegal Drugs of 2002, is being readied by the arresting officers on the suspect, who is temporarily languishing at the detention cell of the local Police Station here. – BiliranIsland.com
