Naval, Biliran – The Department of Health Eastern Visayas Center For Health Development announced to the public as of April 14, 2020 that the eight samples that were sent to Vicento Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) turned out negative for Covid 19.
Regional Director Minerva Molon stated that all test samples from Biliran Province, particularly from Cabucgayan, Culaba and Almeria, were negative, thereby our place is free from Covid 19.
To prevent the spread of the virus, authorities are urging people to practice regular hand washing, cover their mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing, and avoid close contact with those who exhibit virus symptoms.

The negative results were from suspected cases and currently admitted in the referral hospital, provincial hospital and private hospital in the region.
As of today, there are 26 pending results from the 9th batch of samples which was sent to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) yesterday, April 13, 2020.
“Most of our suspected cases in the Region are Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) cases, Moreover, we are also enhancing our influenza-like-illness (ILI) surveillance for early case detection and laboratory confirmation especially from the vulnerable population. Through this we can identify measures on how to contain and stop the spread of this virus. We can as well, reduce the number of serious and critically ill cases while maintain essential and other routine health services,” Dr. Molon said.
Our laboratory result favored us again, But this not mean that we should be complacent. We are way too far from ending this battle. Again, please do your part and follow health advisories,” Director Molon concluded.
