Maripipi, Biliran— A local businessman was arrested by combined operatives from the local police station, the Provincial Police Office, and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group of this province for illegal possession of firearms about 7:40 in the morning on Tuesday (Nov 10) in Brgy. Ermita here.
Police Col Julius Coyme, Biliran Provincial Director identified the suspect as Butch Talacay y Uy, 44, married, a sub contractor and a resident of the said place.
The suspect was arrested by virtue of a Search Warrant No. 04-2020 for Violation of Sec 28, RA 10591 issued BY Hon. Luz P. Navarette, Presiding Judge 8th Judicial Region Branch 16, Naval, Biliran date on Nov 5, 2020.
The arrest stemmed from a confidential report that the suspect is in possession of an unlicensed firearms inside his residence. The police conducted a case build up and surveillance after receiving the report and applied for a Search Warrant when they found the report positive.
During the search inside the room of the suspect the searching cops recovered under several clothes one .45 caliber pistol model M1911A1 U.S. Navy with Serial Number 977819, loaded with one piece magazine, and four live ammunitions.
The arrested businessman did not issue any statement to the media why he possessed an unlicensed firearm.
The confiscated firearm was brought to the Maripipi Police Station for booking and other documentation. While charges of Violation of RA 10591, the Comprehensive Law against Illegal Possession of Firearms, Ammunition and Explosives is being readied by the local police. – BiliranIsland.com
